Bearing Characteristics of Composite Foundation Reinforced by Geosynthetic-Encased Stone Column: Field Tests and Numerical Analyses

In order to study the bearing characteristic of geosynthetic-encased stone column (GESC) on composite foundation, a series field tests and numerical simulation were carried out foundations reinforced by traditional GESC. The pile–soil stress ratio, excess pore water pressure lateral displacement two kinds monitored. effects geotextile stiffness, wrapping length gravel internal friction angle foundation with GESC analyzed establishing different models. results show that can bear larger loading compared column. ratio gradually increases from 1.1 1.5 increasing embankment height. However, reaches at initial filling stage 1.7 construction. drainage effect is better than column, effectively improve overall stiffness so as reduce soil mass. performance after reach certain value, influence its lifting amount will be reduced.
